Relieve your Hayfever with Aromatherapy

Relieve your Hayfever with Aromatherapy

If you’re like me and one of the many people in which the onset of Spring and all those wonderful scents of blooming flowers brings nothing but itchy eyes, a scratchy throat, a runny nose, sneezing and breathing difficulties, rest assured there are many essential oils which can help you to breathe freely and navigate your way through this peak hayfever period.

Arm yourself with the following essential oils to help get you through the allergy season.

Lavender
Lavender essential oil helps to prevent allergic reactions by reducing the inflammatory response body and inhibiting histamine release.

Lemon
Lemon essential oil clears your stuffy nose by reducing mucous congestion whilst also acting as an antihistamine.

Peppermint
Peppermint oil helps to clear your sinus passages and reduce inflammation.

Eucalyptus
Eucalyptus oil opens up your airways, reduces congestion, heals mucous membranes and reduces inflammation.

Focus Blend
If your allergies are stressing you out, our Focus Blend contains Neroli, Lavender and Frankincense. Its relaxing properties will help bring you back to a state of calm whilst at the same time soothe irritated and sensitive sinus passageways.

Frankincense
Frankincense helps to strengthen your immune system, reduce respiratory tract congestion and reduce the inflammatory response. Its ability to reduce airway over-reactivity makes it useful if you also suffer from asthma.

Keep your hayfever at bay

  • For treatment of hayfever, vaporize throughout your home or workplace any of the above essential oils either individually or combined.
  • Alternatively, use our Breathe Easy Blend which contains essential oils aimed at supporting and strengthening your respiratory and immune systems. Our Breathe Easy Blend is a tried and tested blend for sinusitis and any respiratory difficulties. Use this blend in a vaporizer to help with your breathing.
  • If you’re out and about, add a couple of drops of eucalyptus or frankincense essential oils to a folded tissue or clean hankie and sniff it several times a day. This is an effective way to clear and soothe inflamed respiratory passageways.
  • For a natural antihistamine effect, add a couple of drops each of lemon, lavender and peppermint essential oils to a vaporizer or mist diffuser. Again, remember to also add these ones to a folded tissue or clean hankie when you’re away from home.

A steam inhalation using either, eucalyptus essential oil, frankincense essential oil or Breathe Easy Blend can be an effective way to clear your nasal passages and relieve congestion.
